Based on the understanding the mineral chemistry and crystal structure of minerals, the lecture teaches advanced mineralogy about identification and characterization of minerals from various geological environments of Earth system.

TLecture for the background, characterization, and quantification of clay minerals, and for understanding the geological environments through clay mineralogical approaches. In addition, the lecture also introduces the recent mineralogical approaches including Molecular dynamic simulation, X-ray 2D simulation, crystallite grain size distribution calculation using mudmaster, wildfire simulation and illite polytype quantification.
